New Baden Jamboree to Honor Old Pal

by Laura Chesner | Central Texas Star

The New Baden Camp Creek Lions Club is hosting their monthly jamboree on April 5 in tribute to Colon Neyland. Neyland was a longtime lover of the Jamboree, and the crew knows he would have loved the updated digs. Colon passed away last December, leaving a hole in the hearts of many Jamboree regulars.
Neyland was well-loved by musicians and dancers alike at the Jamboree, and the Lions Club folks want everyone who loved him to come and share a song or a story.   Instead of a featured band, this month the Jamboree will feature a jam session from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, open to anyone who wants to play or share their favorite stories about Colon.
A collection will be taken during the evening to benefit the Ball Prairie church cemetery, where Colon is buried.  Admission is free at the New Baden Jamboree, located at 3623 Oak Street in New Baden. However, it is good to bring some cash and come hungry, because Larry's Kitchen will be open, selling burgers, sausage wraps, and loaded baked potatoes.
