May Elections for Calvert and Franklin School Board Loom
The Calvert Independent School District (CISD) and Franklin Independent School District (FISD) are preparing for their school board elections, scheduled for Saturday, May 3. These elections are of significant importance, as they will determine the individuals responsible for the governance of the schools and the representation of the community's educational priorities.
In Calvert Place 4, there are two opponents, Suzi-Johnson Elliott and Gilsie Wiese. Elliott has served on the School Board many times and is the current School Board President, and Weise has served on the board in the past and has served as President as well. Both candidates are qualified and have dedicated themselves to the job. Gina Van Dyke runs unopposed in Place 5 and will retain her place on the Board.
In Franklin Place 2, there are two candidates, Bear Moore and Marcus Worley, with Place 1 Brook
Stallones and Place 3 Justin Kleiber running unopposed. Both candidates have children in FISD schools and are committed to the continued success of Franklin ISD.
Early voting is available for those wishing to cast their ballots in advance. Early voting will commence on Tuesday, April 22. The early voting schedule is as follows: April 22 through April 25, polls will be open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Additionally, on April 28 and April 29, extended hours will be offered, with polls open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
In Calvert, residents can vote at the Calvert Fire Station, located at 700 Railroad St, during early voting hours. Franklin residents can drop by the election center, located at 601 N. Hearne, to cast their ballot early.
Election Day remains Saturday, May 3, with polls open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Residents of both Calvert and Franklin ISD are strongly encouraged to participate in the electoral process. In Calvert, election day voting is held at the W.D. Spigner School at 831 W. Texas in Calvert, while Franklin residents can cast their vote at the Pridgeon Center at 351 Cooks Ln. on election day.
