Congressional Art Competition Showcases Young Talent in TX-17

by Laura Chesner | Central Texas Star

Last weekend, April 12 and 13, the Congressional Art Competition for both the East Texas and Deep East Texas regions of TX-17 was proudly hosted by Congressman Pete Sessions. This year’s theme, "America, the Beautiful," inspired students to submit powerful and creative works that captured the spirit of the nation through their own unique perspectives. Several students from Robertson County competed and did very well in the competition. Congratulations to all the winners and keep up the fabulous work
Here are this year’s East Texas winners:

  • 1st Place – "Bearing the Beauty of Old Glory" by Makenna Berry, Homeschool
  • 2nd Place – "America's Reverence to Her Fallen" by Darian Firth, Franklin ISD
  • 3rd Place – "Angel in the Rubble" by Rylee Callaway, Franklin ISD
  • 4th Place – "Apple's Journey" by Anna Pham, Franklin ISD
Robertson County and Franklin ISD is very proud of the students who put forth their best effort and took home almost all the winning places. Congressman Sessions conveyed a deep thank you to every student who entered for the East Texas and Deep East Texas regions. The creativity and passion displayed were truly impressive. A special thank you is extended to Angelina College for supporting the Deep East Texas event and for their commitment to young artists in the region.
