Calvert Historical Foundation Organizes Clean-Up at Historic Sterling Cemetery

The Calvert Historical Foundation (CHF) is once again stepping up to its vital role in preserving Texas's rich heritage by maintaining the designated Texas Historic Landmarks. After several years away from this significant site, the time has come for the CHF to conduct a much-needed STERLING CLEAN-UP at the cemetery. 
Scheduled for March 8, the day will commence bright and early at 8:00 a.m. at the cemetery located on Calvert Farm Road. Volunteers will gather to tackle a range of tasks, including tree limb removal, weeding, raking, fence repairs, and gravestone cleaning. Each of these activities is crucial in maintaining the integrity and respect of this historic site. 
Participants are encouraged to come prepared with work gloves and to wear boots or sturdy shoes for safety. The CHF has outlined specific equipment needed for the day's work: gasoline-powered chainsaws, weed eaters, shovels, rakes, hoes, trimming shears, soft brushes for cleaning stones, and wheelbarrows for moving heavy limbs. By bringing these tools, volunteers will ensure that every task can be completed efficiently and effectively. 
To ensure that everyone stays hydrated throughout the morning, the CHF will provide cold water bottles. Recognizing the hard work that will take place, the foundation has also suggested a celebratory lunch to cap off the morning's efforts. They extended an invitation for someone to volunteer to bring sandwich making items, or potluck, which would serve as a delightful reward for the collective accomplishments of the day.
