Celebrating Artistic Achievements: A February School Board Meeting to Remember

by Laura Chesner | Central Texas Star

At the regular February school board meeting, the atmosphere was filled with pride and joy as the board recognized the extraordinary talents of our award-winning artists and their dedicated teacher, Mrs. Dudley. The evening's spotlight shone brightly on these young prodigies, whose hard work and creativity had garnered them well-deserved accolades. Congratulations to this talented group for their remarkable achievements!
A special shout-out goes to all who voted for Addyson Campbell. She triumphed as the Artsonia Artist of the Week, with her artwork captivating the hearts of many. Addyson's success is a testament to the power of community support and the unwavering passion she brings to her artistry.
The excitement didn't stop there. The Rodeo Austin Art Contest proved to be a day filled with anticipation and triumph. Out of an impressive 500 entries, two of our students emerged victorious, showcasing their exceptional skills:
 Jolie Swick: Grand Champion Photography
 Jeremy Denson: Reserve Champion Digital
These talented young artists will have another moment to shine on March 29, when they will participate in a live auction, selling their artwork. This opportunity not only underscores their artistic prowess but also promises to be a financially rewarding experience.
Our students also made their mark at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Show. Several students competed and came home with yellow and blue ribbons in many categories.
In November, Adamaris Perez-Martinez, a junior, completed the rigorous application requirements for the HLSR Quick Draw Contest. This marked the second time she had been chosen for this prestigious contest, which stands apart from the annual art competitions.
On December 16, the HLSR Art Program unveiled the finalists who would compete in this esteemed contest. Only 52 high school students were selected, divided into Portrait or Full Figure categories. Adamaris Perez-Martinez earned her place in the Portrait Class, a category she had passionately pursued. She placed high in the January 25 competition and can be proud of her artistic achievements.
As we celebrate these accomplishments, we look forward to witnessing the continued growth and success of our young artists. Their stories inspire us all, reminding us of the boundless possibilities that arise when creativity, dedication, and community support come together.
