Calvert to Celebrate Reopening of Senior Center

by Laura Chesner | Central Texas Star

Tanner Swope, project manager for the renovations on Calvert’s Senior Center, proudly handed the keys over to Beatrice Cephas and City Manager, Sergio Loya, after a quick walk-through of the newly renovated Senior Center. Those lucky enough to get a good look at the new center were very happy with the results and cannot wait to show it off to the community.
In addition to a brand-new kitchen with appliances and a new wash sink, the center received updates to the HVAC system and new insulation throughout the center to provide a more temperate environment all year long. The recreation room also got a thorough deep cleaning and will receive new furnishings as well. Donations of books, puzzles, magazines or games are always welcomed as the Senior Center is a regular destination for Calvert citizens. They will be glad to return to their favorite hangout spot and see their friends and neighbors again.
The entire community is invited to celebrate the new center at a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 11 at 10:30 am. There will be light refreshments provided for everyone in the community who wishes to come and take a good look at their new senior center.
